Intro

Friends of Ciudad de los Niños is a U.S.-based nonprofit initiative supporting vulnerable children in Cochabamba, Bolivia. We work alongside Ciudad de los Niños, a community that has been providing safe housing, education, and care to children for over 50 years. Our mission is simple: to help children move from vulnerability to stability, and from stability to independence.

Our Story

Our story began in 2023, when the director of Ciudad de los Niños was invited to speak at Montclair State University in New Jersey. That moment created a bridge between Bolivia and the United States. In 2024, a group from St. Benedict’s Preparatory School visited Bolivia, experiencing firsthand the work of Ciudad de los Niños. The visit marked the beginning of a deeper, long-term collaboration. In 2025, this connection reached an important milestone: for the first time, a young person who grew up in Ciudad de los Niños was given the opportunity to study in the United States. From these experiences, Friends of Ciudad de los Niños was created—to build a sustainable support system connecting communities across countries.

What We Do

We support the daily work of Ciudad de los Niños by:

  • funding residential care programs

  • supporting education and healthcare

  • strengthening families

  • helping young people transition to independent life

We work closely with local teams in Bolivia to ensure that every contribution has a real and measurable impact.

Our Vision

  • a safe home

  • access to education

  • emotional support

  • the opportunity to build a future

Through long-term commitment and international collaboration, we aim to create lasting change for children and families.
